Import historical data
Bring traffic reports from Simple Analytics or Plausible into Talvess without mixing their metrics with native tracking.
Before you start
Add your website to Talvess, then open Profile and select it. Under Import, choose Simple Analytics or Plausible. Each provider has its own Import button with a plus icon.

- Simple Analytics: have your API key and user ID ready, with access to the Stats API. Find your credentials (opens in a new tab).
- Plausible: use a Stats API key for the team that owns your website. The import dialog requires Stats API access on the Business plan. Check provider requirements (opens in a new tab).
Importing historical reports does not install the Talvess tracker. Install it separately to collect new visits.
Connect your provider
- Select Import beside your provider.
- Enter your API key and, for Simple Analytics, your user ID.
- Choose Connect account. Select the source website from the websites your account can access. Use More websites if the source is not on the first page.
- Check the Reporting timezone. When the provider supplies it, Talvess uses that value. Otherwise, enter the IANA timezone configured in your source dashboard, such as
Asia/Kolkata.
Preview and import
Choose the inclusive From and To dates. Use a completed period before today in the source timezone. Talvess defaults to about a year of history ending yesterday and accepts a range of fewer than 10,000 days.
Choose Preview import. Check the website, dates, timezone, totals, and any provider warnings. Choose Edit selection to make changes, or Start import to continue.

The import retrieves six report groups: summary, daily traffic, pages, sources, countries, and devices. Progress is saved between requests.
Read imported history
When the import finishes, choose Manage, then View history. On Analytics, the data-source selector lets you switch between Talvess and a completed provider import.
Imported history keeps its original date range, reporting timezone, and metric definitions. It is displayed separately from native Talvess traffic. It does not backfill signup events, revenue, engagement, or visitor journeys.
- Simple Analytics reports Unique pageviews; Plausible reports Unique visitors. These are not interchangeable with Talvess browser IDs.
- Daily unique counts are separate from the provider's period total. Summing them can count a visitor more than once.
- Available breakdowns and warnings depend on the provider. A source may omit or limit a report.
Manage an import
Return to Profile or Analytics to resume after leaving Talvess. In Manage, a running import offers Resume and Cancel import. An interrupted import may require reconnecting; check its error before starting again.
Use New import when no import is running. Deleting an import requires Confirm delete and removes that imported history. See import troubleshooting for credential, date, or provider errors.
